2024 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Southwood Jr/Sr High School has announced their 2024 Valedictorian, Miss Carrie Collins, and Salutatorian, Miss Emma Adams.

Carrie Collins

Carrie Collins is the daughter of Chris and Sarah Collins. During her years at Southwood, Carrie was very involved, participating in Campus Life, FCA, Bible Study, Student Congress, Prom Planning Committee, Semi-Formal Planning Committee, Theater, National Honor Society, Choir, Basketball, Track, and Tennis. She has also volunteered extensively with the Metro Baseball League, the College Corner Brethren Church Children’s Ministry and Music Ministry, tutoring, and “Photographer of the Day” at the Wabash County Fair. She is also a 10-year member of 4-H and the College Corner Brethren youth group.

Carrie plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University in the fall to study Christian Ministries.

When asked about her time at Southwood, Carrie stated, “I always appreciated how supportive everyone was. We had fun, but we also worked hard. Our teachers not only helped us successfully pass our classes, but they also prepared us to succeed in life after high school by teaching us the value of hard work and dedication and by helping us reach the next level of academic performance.”

Emma Adams, Salutatorian

Emma Adams

Emma Adams is the daughter of Will and Julie Adams. During high school, Emma was involved in Theater, Choir, Art Club, eSports, Student Congress, JSG, Bible Study, Crossroads Bank Junior Board of Directors, National Honor Society. She has also been a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church youth group.

She plans to attend Taylor University this fall to pursue a degree in English with a focus on Creative Writing and a minor in Spanish.

Emma stated about her experience at Southwood, “I greatly appreciate the relationships I was able to form with my teachers. Whenever I experienced an emotional low, my teachers were there to pick me back up, even if they didn't always realize it. My teachers always made me feel welcome and cared for, which made learning from them both easy and enjoyable.”
